The Public Relations & Communications Manager (PR & Comms) is a full-time role within the BDA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance our Company’s brand, public image and reputation.

This position involves managing media relations, crafting compelling content, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to support the Company’s goals and objectives
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, social media influencers and other media representatives.
  • Monitor media coverage and social media conversations to identify trends, opportunities and potential risks, and develop appropriate responses
  • Produce high quality and engaging content, including press releases, speeches, articles, newsletters and social media posts, ensuring all communications align with the Company’s brand and message
  • Develop and execute crisis communication plans to address potential threats to the Company’s reputation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams to ensure cohesive communication across the organization and to provide communication support for various initiatives
  • Oversee the Company’s social media presence, creating and curating content that drives engagement and supports brand objectives
  • Manage public relations events, including product launches, media tours and community outreach programs to generate media interest and coverage
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of PR and communication campaigns and initiatives using a variety of analytics tools.
  • Prepare regular reports on PR and communication activities, providing actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • University Degree in Business, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or a related field
  • In-depth understanding of media and public relations and experience in developing a comprehensive PR strategy
  • PR or Communications certificate such as an APR, CPRL or PRCP
  • 5 plus years of Public Relations, corporate communications or related experience
  • Ability to identify and coordinate relationships with relevant partners for outsourcing media activities to PR companies and marketing agencies
  • Experience/knowledge of the Bermuda market an asset
  • Ability to lead the media buying process
  • Proficient in using social media platforms and digital communication tools
  • Ability to set up data-driven tools to assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write press releases, blog articles and contribute to writing marketing collateral
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
