SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) is seeking to recruit 2 new Business Development Managers to drive growth and expand our client base across diverse regions. The Business Development Manager is a full-time role within the BDA and will work in conjunction with the Head of Business Development to cultivate and implement innovative, proactive strategies to attract businesses to the island as well as encourage greater investment in Bermuda companies and products.

The role offers the opportunity to work with key stakeholders to sustain existing business, while actively developing new business on the island that leads to growth in GDP and job creation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a deep knowledge of your pillar including existing companies, investment levels, jobs numbers and future potential.
  • Build and maintain strong relations with existing investors and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for improvements to the investment offering to potential investors, for example, legislative changes.
  • Build a compelling proposition relevant to the respective pillar highlighting the broader strengths of Bermuda as a business location and place to live.
  • Promote innovation – Bermuda as a sandbox from which innovators can build new products, platforms & solutions before scaling to larger markets.
  • Promote climate action/sustainability initiatives for respective pillar.
  • Attend and actively participate in key events in market and overseas.
  • Leverage digital tools such as LinkedIn to support marketing & communication activities.
  • Develop a list of target companies in priority markets with bespoke propositions for each potential new client, attracting and incentivizing new clients to visit Bermuda.
  • Make investment referrals and maintain regular contact/relations with solution providers.
  • Work closely with other partners in Government to unblock any barriers to conversion.
  • Maintain an active knowledge of real estate inventory, talent availability, concierge services, incentives and other developments relevant to respective pillar.
  • Ensure that the CRM/Salesforce system accurately reflects the status of all leads, opportunities/referrals at any given time. Provide monthly updates internally on pipeline progress.
  • Monitor the impact of each secured investment on economic growth, aligned with the Economic Development Strategy.
  • Undertake regular aftercare/follow up with existing investors, supporting expansion and reinvestment.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience in senior sales, consulting or business development role
  • Undergraduate degree
  • A successful track record in complex and innovative business development, coupled with the ability to compose and articulate complex proposals
  • Proven capability to identify, develop and negotiate long term business relationships
