Ross Webber – Chief Executive Officer
Ross Webber joined the BDA as CEO in 2014, having served as a Board Director since inception. Under his tenure, the BDA has achieved business development successes across multi-industry sectors, including new company formations, job creation and five consecutive quarters of national GDP growth. The agency has also won strong support from government, regulatory and corporate stakeholders. Notably, Ross has been a strong advocate overseas for the jurisdiction’s blue-chip reputation, compliance and transparency. A former permanent secretary for the Bermuda government’s Ministry of Economic Development, Ross was previously head of global marketing and business development for international law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman. He holds an MBA in Insurance and Financial Risk Management from St. John’s University, New York, and is a member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD).
Heather Bean – Head of Operations
Heather joins the BDA from Stockton Re, where she spent 14 years, latterly as vice president in charge of managing the company’s wind-down procedures. She brings a strong background in human resources management, including payroll, benefits and strategic retention. She also has many years of experience in strategic planning, budgeting, audit preparation, board reporting, shareholder liaison, financial and regulatory reporting and compliance, and facilities management. Her responsibilities at BDA include day-to-day office operations, financial and facilities management, as well as overseeing human resources and member services.
sophie burt – Conferences & Events Coordinator
A graduate of the University of East London (UEL) Business School, UK, Sophie earned a degree in Events Management and completed an internship at a local financial institution where she was actively involved in marketing, public relations, events and product management. Sophie coordinates BDA events and participation at conferences, meetings and receptions, and provides a range of administrative support.
Deshay Caines – Business Development Coordinator
Deshay joined the BDA in the fall of 2015, after working at Digicel Bermuda for three years, latterly as an account manager. She is a graduate of Oakwood University, Huntsville, AL, where she received a dual degree in business management and history. At the BDA, Deshay is responsible for supporting the Business Development Managers, and providing general industry sector support.
Nicole Conrad Morrison – Head of Conferences & Events
Nicole is an accomplished advertising, marketing and multi-media professional with over 18 years’ international experience in producing events from live television broadcasts, corporate events to national advertising campaigns. Nicole oversees all conferences and events for the BDA, raising the profile of each industry sector and ensuring creative input, as well as top-quality representation at every event.
Mark Darko – business development coordinator
Mark joined the BDA in 2016 with London-based experience in the investment banking sphere, primarily in bonds, equities and derivatives. He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management from Westminster University, UK. At the BDA, Mark is responsible for supporting the Business Development Manager for the Risk Solutions sector, focusing specifically on captive insurance, healthcare, and the ILS market.
Yvonne Decosta – marketing manager
Yvonne has a solid marketing background, focusing on the creative, planning and production process. In her previous role at Clarien Bank, she was instrumental in launching its international marketing campaigns; she is also well-versed in analysing marketing research, developing product-driven campaigns, and managing production of all marketing materials. Her responsibilities at BDA include overseeing production of all marketing collateral and creating greater equity and visibility for the Bermuda brand.
marsha foley – Financial Controller
Marsha has been with the BDA and its predecessor organisations for seven years and provides vital continuity. As a financial accountant, her efficiency, record-keeping and systematic approach to handling the organisation’s payroll, benefits and banking are invaluable. Marsha ensures our internal controls and compliance standards are met in accordance with our statutory requirements.
Rosemary Jones – Head of Communications & Marketing
Rosemary is a former newspaper, magazine and broadcast journalist with extensive experience in Toronto and Bermuda. A member of the Media Council of Bermuda, she launched her own company, Brimstone Media, specialising in publications and corporate/museum exhibits. As the BDA’s Communications Manager, she oversees all public and media relations, including speeches and thought-leadership products, website, social media, collateral and other marketing content. She also manages the agency’s BDA Abroad alumni outreach programme via LinkedIn.
Lynesha Lightbourne – Business Development Coordinator
Lynesha joined the BDA in 2016 with experience in the trust and private-client sector. Previously, she spent seven years at Bermuda Trust Company, a subsidiary of HSBC Bermuda, and later served as a senior trust officer at Butterfield Trust Bermuda before joining Anchor Corporate Solutions as a corporate services manager. She holds a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management from Fort Valley State University, GA, and an International Trust Management Diploma. Lynesha supports Business Development Managers in Trust & Private Client, Shipping and Aviation pillars.
Sean Moran – Head of Business Development
Sean Moran is Head of Business Development at the BDA, responsible for supervising the team of business development managers and coordinators. Sean joined the BDA as a Business Development Manager in August 2014. Sean has more than 20 years of financial services experience, including three years as vice president of Citi Hedge Fund Services for Citigroup, New York. Prior to Citi, Sean held , senior roles with Butterfield Fulcrum Group as director of business development and with HSBC Alternative Fund Services as client relationship manager in New York and Hong Kong. Sean holds a BA (Hons) degree from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario. Within the business development team at the BDA, he is also responsible for the agency’s Asset Management and Trust & Private Client sectors. He works with industry focus groups to create strategies to help businesses set up and grow in Bermuda.
Jereme Ramsay – Business Development Manager
Jereme’s experience spans financial services, in both asset management and retail banking. At HSBC, he oversaw strategic planning and marketing governance for retail and wealth management divisions, and was also e-sales manager. He holds a BA degree from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and an MBA in Marketing Management from the University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS), UK, and is a Chartered Marketer and Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. At the BDA, Jereme is responsible for our Risk Solutions pillar and works with BDA reinsurance, insurance, captives, and insurance-linked securities sectors.
Kevin Richards – Business Development Manager
Kevin joined the BDA in 2015, bringing more than nine years of financial services experience, including two as marketing manager at GE Canada. Previously, Kevin spent two years in London with GE Capital International, and also worked for five years in the insurance industry with ACE Group in London and Bermuda. Kevin holds a BA and MBA degree from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. At the BDA, Kevin is responsible for shipping and aircraft finance sectors.
Morgan Simons – Business Development Coordinator
Morgan joined the BDA in November 2014, after completing her Master’s degree in International Tourism Management from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK; she also has an undergraduate degree in French Language from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. At the BDA, Morgan is responsible for supporting the CEO and the Business Development Manager (International Commerce sector). She also supports the Office Manager and oversees the BDA’s student intern programme.
Tuere Smith – Administrative Assistant
Tuere joined the BDA in 2016 and is responsible for covering the agency’s front-office reception as well as providing administration and accounting support. Her duties include handling BDA inquiries and assisting all BDA team members with various assignments, including support for business development, database maintenance and travel/events. Tuere previously worked as a claims analyst for XL Insurance and a claims adjustor for Argus Insurance.
Deborah Ann Trott – Executive Assistant
Deborah is a Certified Administrative Professional with a strong background in administrative procedures and first-rate organisational skills. At the BDA, she is the primary point of contact for the CEO and is responsible for research and follow-up on incoming concerns. She provides support for executive outreach and external business-development efforts, and serves as a liaison to the Board of Directors and Management Team. Previously, Deborah worked as a senior executive assistant to Ministers and Permanent Secretaries in the Bermuda government, as well as to the CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
